Ashtanga Yoga Athens 2002 was founded in 2002 by Eleftheria Lagoudaki (Authorized Level I, KPJAYI) and is the first Shala in Athens exclusively devoted to practicing and teaching Ashtanga Yoga, the way it was taught by K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) and now being taught by lineage holder R. Sharath Jois in Mysore, India.
From September, 2002 up until June, 2013 Ashtanga Yoga Athens 2002 was housed in Kleitiou Str, Syntagma. In July, 2013 the school moved into a new, larger, brightly lit Shala in the same neighborhood, with a sunrise and a sunset view. Ashtanga Yoga Athens 2002 is a warm, cozy space in the heart of the city, made with a homely and chilled atmosphere. Our intention is to make Ashtanga practice a daily habit and the place is shaped in a way that encourages and reinforces that notion.
In Ashtanga Yoga Athens 2002 we follow the traditional way of teaching Ashtanga: Mysore practice, the individualized teaching within a group setting. In the school, classes suitable for all levels are held everyday, in the morning and in the afternoon. We welcome everyone who wants to get to know Ashtanga with a two-hour introductory seminar which always takes place on a Saturday.
